Its mechanical properties are similar to that of bronze. It has good wear resistance and good self-lubricating performance, without damaging the belt. The buffer idler has excellent anti-corrosion performance. The roll body and sealing elements are made of high polymer materials, which are corrosion resistant. In corrosive occasions, the service life can reach more than 5 times of that of ordinary idler.


The buffer idler has light weight and small rotation inertia. The special polymer material for idler is light, with the specific gravity being one seventh of that of steel. The weight of idler made of this material is about one half of that of ordinary idler, with low rotation inertia and low friction between idler and belt.


The buffer idler is installed below the receiving section of the conveyor to reduce the impact of materials on the conveyor belt during blanking, so as to prolong the service life of the conveyor belt. The spacing of the buffer idler is generally 100-600mm.


In terms of installation, the first is to improve the installation density; Second, check frequently and replace the damaged idler in time. For the conveyor belt with large blanking drop, it is recommended to install a buffer air lock and replace the buffer idler with a buffer bed. (1) Temperature protection of buffer idler


When the temperature of the belt conveyor drum is out of limit due to the friction between the belt and the drum, the detection device installed close to the drum will send an overtemperature signal. After receiving the signal, the receiver will delay for 3s to execute part of the action, cut off the power supply of the motor, and the conveyor will stop automatically to protect the temperature.


(2) Idler group speed protection


In case of conveyor failure, such as motor burning, mechanical transmission part damage, belt or chain breaking, belt slipping, etc., the magnetic switch in the accident sensor SG installed on the driven part of the conveyor cannot be closed or cannot be closed at normal speed. In this case, the control system will operate according to the inverse time characteristics and after a certain delay, the speed protection circuit will work to make the executive part act and cut off the power supply of the motor to avoid the expansion of the accident.


(3) Coal level protection of buffer idler coal bunker


Two high and low coal level electrodes are set in the coal bunker. When there is no empty car in the coal bunker and the coal cannot be discharged, the coal level will gradually rise. When the coal level rises to the high level electrode, the coal level protection will act. Starting from the first belt conveyor, each conveyor will stop in turn due to the coal stacking at the tail of the machine.
